Scenic Day Tours by Car

Kerikeri
(30 minutes drive)

Visit New Zealand's oldest house, Kemp House, and the nearby historic Stone Store. There are craft shops, a chocolate factory and the not to be missed Rainbow Falls. Marsden Estate vineyard is a lovely place to have lunch.


Paihia/Waitangi
(45 minutes)
Visit the historic Treaty House where the pact between the Maori leaders and Queen Victoria was signed in 1840. The lovely grounds, museum, Maori meetinghouse and world's largest war canoe make this a unique trip. From Paihia you have the option of taking a round trip jet boat ride on The Excitor to see The Hole in the Rock and the scenic Bay of Islands.


Puketi Forest
(30 minutes)

Walk among the giant Kauri and other varieties of flora.


Kawiti Glow Worm Caves
(1 hour)
Visit these amazing glow-worm caves. Guided tours. Open 7 days a week 8.30am-4.30pm


Russell
(1 Hour)
From Paihia Wharf, take a short ferry ride to Russell, the quaint whaling village and New Zealand's original capital. Visit the museum, climb Flagstaff Hill and have lunch on the waterfront or at glorious Omata Estate Vineyard.


Ninety Mile Beach
(1.5 Hours)

See this magnificent stretch of beach and its giant sand dunes, which you can sand surf or explore by quad bike.


Tane Mahuta
(1.5 Hours each way)
The Lord of the Forest. The giant Kauri tree has the largest girth of any tree in the world. You will gasp when you see it. We can arrange a car and driver to take you or you can drive your own car to Omapere in the Hokianga Harbour where you will connect with a local Maori guide from ‘Footprints’ who will take you into the Waipoua forest for a private tour. There is no better way to see this Kauri Tree which is over 2000 years old.

Whilst you are in the Hokianga why not add a harbour crossing and a dune buggy tour of the unique sand sculptures and dunes of the North Hokianga Harbour.
